Walter Phillip "Phil" Holt (1948-2024)

Phil Holt, recently of Hiram, Georgia, passed away at his home on August 19th, 2024.

Born November 23rd 1948 in Gainesville, Florida, to parents Walter and Bernice Holt, Phil grew up in a loving home playing sports of all kinds and exploring the outdoors with the Boy Scouts, an organization he would support throughout his life.  After a brief time at the University of Florida, Phil served in the Navy during the Vietnam conflict before returning home and completing his education at the University of North Florida.  It was there he met who was to become his wife of 52 years, Kristi Holt (nee Shellebarger).  They were married March 30th, 1973.

Phil worked in a number of industries throughout his life including corporate security, automotive and construction and also spent a number of years being an awesome stay-at-home Dad to his two children, Andy and Karie.

Phil remained active in Scouting throughout his life, positively impacting hundreds of boys and girls through volunteering at outings, meetings, and events in Scouting for more than 25 years and receiving many honors and awards for his work there both while his children were active in Scouting and afterwards.

He leaves a legacy of laughter, service and devotion to his family and a love of history, old cars, Western movies, Great Danes, and cooking (including adding lemon to things that lemon should never be added to).

Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bernice and his brother, Kenny.  He is survived by his wife Kristi and their two children Andy (Amy) and Karie (Austin).

A small family service will be held Monday, August 26, 2024 at Georgia National Cemetery at 9:30am with the United States Navy presenting military honors. A gathering of friends and family to remember Phil will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 12:00pm at the Legends neighborhood clubhouse located at 100 Legends Way Hiram, GA 30141.
