Velma Jean Clackum, age 80, of Hiram, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026. She was born on October 31, 1945 in Marietta, Georgia to the late Ernest and Flora Mae Smith Atkins. Mrs. Clackum was a nursing assistant for many years at the Paulding County Nursing Home and was loved by all of her family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Clackum and her children, Cynthia Clackum and Melissa Diane Tidwell.

Survivors include her daughter, Starli Spain; her brother, Doug and Sharron Atkins; her sister, Edith Jennell Ramsey; grandchildren, Clarissa Causey and her husband, Randell, Brett Tidwell, Taylor Spain and her husband, Jordan, Deven Spain and Brianna Tidwell; great-grandchildren,  Camilla Causey and Andi Smith.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from Paulding Memorial Gardens in Hiram, Georgia with Reverend Todd Chatham officiating.
