Mrs. Sylvia Carol Rakestraw, age 87, of Carrollton passed away Monday, October 9, 2023.

Mrs. Rakestraw was born on May 31, 1936 in Fitzgerald, GA to the late Mr. Jesse Thomas Whitten and the late Mrs. Lillian Carroll Whitten. Sylvia was a retired bookkeeper from the Cobb County Board of Education. She was a member of Roopville Road Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald "D.R." Rakestraw.

Survivors include her son, Don Rakestraw Jr. (Sherry Clark) of Bluffton, S.C.; brother, Tom Whitten (Pat) of Freeport, FL; grandchildren, Bethany Rakestraw and Amy Wagner (Jordan).

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00am from Roopville Road Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Peeples. Inurnment to follow at Roopville Road Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, October 21st from 10:00am until 11:00am.
