Mrs. Shirley Jean Gilbert, age 87, of Newborn, GA passed away Friday, August 25, 2023.

Mrs. Gilbert was born on September 15, 1935 in Powder Springs, GA to the late Mr. Boyd Albert Hill and Mrs. Flora Pitts Hill. Shirley loved to cook, read, and quilt. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Emmett W. Gilbert Sr.; brother, Richard O'Neal Hill; stepson, Alan Lee Gilbert; two grandchildren, Gene and Gail.

Survivors include children, Jonathan Cantrell (Patsy) of Newborn, GA, Susan Gwen Perry (Ricky Lamar) of Buckhead, GA, Thomas Boyd Gilbert of Jacksonville, FL, Emmett W. Gilbert Jr. (Cindi) of Cleveland, GA, Patrick O'Neal Gilbert of Eatonton, GA, and Evelyn Gilbert Tedford of McDonough, GA, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Bellamy Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Chatham officiating. Interment to follow at Morris Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, August 31st from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.
