Obituary

Mrs. Sheryl Glass Elrod, age 73, of Villa Rica, GA passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024.

Mrs. Elrod was born on June 19, 1950 in Marietta, GA to the late Mr. Welton George Glass and the late Mrs. Esther Virginia Sorrows Glass. Sheryl was an active member of Clarkdale First Baptist Church in Austell, GA, where she served as Church Treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She served as Worthy Grand Matron for the State of Georgia for the 2014-2015 session. She also served as the Worthy Matron of her home chapter, Austell #314, more than once.

Sheryl was a loving wife, mother, and Nana who cherished time spent with her family and her "sweetheart" Bill. She was a kind, thoughtful person who took her responsibilities seriously and gave her best in every endeavor. She always wanted to do the right thing, and she never wanted anyone to feel left out or excluded.

Her faith was tremendously important to her and she loved studying the Word. She strove every day to live her life in service to God. Her favorite bible verse was "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Being a mother was the greatest joy of Sheryl's life. She loved and supported her girls with all her heart. She was known to say "I'm your biggest cheerleader" to her daughters, and she always wanted to be involved in their activities. She loved music and especially enjoyed being a "band mom."

She enjoyed the quiet country life she shared with Bill at their home in Villa Rica. She liked sitting out on the front porch with Bill and their dog, Carley, looking out over the field where the horses grazed. Sheryl was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile could light up a room. She was a sweet, sincere person who touched the lives of everyone she met.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, William (Bill) Elrod of Villa Rica, GA; daughters, Carolyn Carmichael (Ryan) of Madison, AL, Susan Elrod (Shin Liu) of Taoyuan, Taiwan, and Rebecca Harkenrider (Devan) of Dallas, GA; grandchild, Xiao Carmichael of Madison, AL; siblings, Donald Glass (Gail) of Dallas, GA, Debra Glass of Oakwood, GA, and Bonita Glass (Necy Goss) of Oakwood, GA.
