Ms. Scerita "Sam" Ann Dugas, age 80, of Hiram, GA passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

Ms. Dugas, who was affectionately known as Sam, was born on October 23, 1944 in Gulfport, Mississippi to the late Mr. James David Dugas and the late Mrs. Anna Crnkovich Dugas. Sam worked as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service. In 1959, Sam joined Marlborough Assembly Rainbow Girls in Missouri, where she earned her Grand Cross of Colors. She joined Beta Sigma Phi in 1965, as a Nu Phi Mu in Missouri. She later joined the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Grand Family Session appointee as Link of Constancy in 2016-2017 for Tina Culpepper and Sonny Dykes. After joining the OES, she also joined the Red Hats. Once she moved to Atlanta, she also joined Nu Phi Mu, Beta Sigma Phi, Atlanta City Council, Theta Sigma Phi, and Zata Sigma Phi. Sam was initiated into Powder Spring Chapter #493 on May 25, 2006, became a Plural member of Oglethorpe #122 on August 22, 2011 and then Affiliated with Mountain Park #524 on October 3, 2016 and remained an active member until Covid.

Survivors include her sister, Carolyn Sanders (Arney) of Raymore, MO; nephews, Paul Sanders (Melinda) of MO and Jay Sanders of MO; great nephews, Alex Sanders (Rebecca) and Jacob Sanders; great niece, Madison Sanders; great-great nephew, Luke Sanders.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 12:00pm from Peoples Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Bellamy and Carol Bratcher, CLM Pastor of Lebanon UMC officiating with Order of the Eastern Star rites performed.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 11:00am until 12:00pm.
