Richard Clayton Carter Sr., age 70, of Hiram passed away September 5, 2017. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 2:00pm at Bellamy Funeral Home Hiram Chapel with Rev. Kenneth O. Hennesy officiating. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Carter was born on November 1, 1946 in Scarbro, WV. He was the son of the late William Ray Carter and Ruth Evelyn Harmon Carter of Mt. Hope, WV. He moved to Georgia at 19 years old to raise his family. He was a self-employed drywall contractor.
Survivors include: Wife of 51 years – Linda Carter; Son – Richard Clayton and Rhonda Carter Jr. of Bremen; Daughters – Leah Michele and Mark Melstrom of Douglasville and Kimberly Renee and David Patterson of Douglasville; Brothers – Robert Carter and Thomas Carter; Sisters – Carol Stump and Barbara Lyle; 5 Grandsons – Joshua Clayton Carter, Tyler Lee Dale, Logan Nathaniel Carter, Ryan Mathew Patterson and Jacob Aaron Patterson; Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by: Brothers – James Ray Carter and Ronald L. Carter; Sister – Glenna Ruth
Pall bearers include: All 5 Grandsons and David Patterson
