Obituary

Mr. Paul Franklin Martin, age 89, of Hiram and formerly of Mableton, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021.

Mr. Martin was born on September 3, 1931 to the late Hudie Martin and the late Edith Marie Lunsford. Mr. Martin was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Before his retirement, he owned and operated a Diesel Repair Shop in Austell, Georgia. Mr. Martin was a 50-year member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia, F & AM, Latham Lodge #12 and a 49-year member of the Yaarab Shriners and supported the Shrine Circus.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Hudie Monroe Martin (Barbara) and Edith Marie Lunsford Tucker (Junior); grandparents, Franklin Martin, Doralee Land Martin, Ralf Ostin Lunsford, and Emma Bell Moore; son, Patrick Frank Martin; sisters, Catherine Martin Tucker, Joyce Martin Tucker, Evelyn Martin Tucker, Martha Ellen Norris, and Betty Mae Williams; brother, Clarence Martin; grandson, J.R. "Skeeter" Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Mrs. Nelda Jean Anderson Martin of Hiram; daughters, Pam Martin Myers (Ken) of Dallas and Nelva Martin of Hiram; son, Mike Martin (Kim) of Hiram; sisters, Phyllis Tucker Broadwell (Allen) of Adairsville, Barbara Ann Penny of Monticello, Dorothy Jean Melton (Sidney) of Stockbridge, Joyce Juanita Cortez of Newnan, and Charlotte Joan Martin Smith of Thomaston; sister-in-law, Mauricette Martin of Forest Park; brother-in-law, Bob Anderson of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Shane Martin of Chattanooga, TN, Audrey Martin Rice (Alan) of Kennesaw, Rhoda Smith of Temple, Ben Myers (Susan) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Amy E. Myers of Dallas, Mamie Smith Hays (Donnie) of Dallas, and Henry Smith of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Anthony Rice, Avery Rice, Abbie Rice, Luke Mayes, Jake Hays, Leland Smith, and Micah Grant; many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 8th at 11:00 am at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Hiram with Rev. Johnny Turner officiating.

At the conclusion of the service, everyone is welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Life with fellowship at their home.
