Obituary

Opal Hendrix Isley age 96 of Powder Springs, passed away Thursday April 24, 2014 at home with her family around her.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday April 27th at First United Methodist Church of Powder Springs at
3:00 pm Dr.Jim Howell and Rev. Roger Vest officiating. Instate at the Church 2 pm to 3 pm. Interment Powder Springs Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive visitors at Bellamy Powder Springs Saturday 5pm to 8pm.
She was born in Marshall County, AL. May 8th, 1917. Opal "Mama Opal" was a life long dedicated servant of our Lord and Savior. Moving to Georgia in 1952 she became a member of Powder Springs First United Methodist Church and served in many positions, showing love, compassion and Christian leadership. Opal's main focus was her family being a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Being very good with numbers she enjoyed bookkeeping for several years.
Known for her wonderful pound cakes and pies, her great cooking skills were a joy to many family members and friends. She was a member of Powder Springs O.E.S.#493.
She was preceded in death by her husband Blythe M. Isley, her parents and 10 siblings. She is survived by one daughter Sylvia Isley Steed Huber. two grandsons Tommy and wife Bennea Bookout Steed and Richard and Leigh Harmon Steed. 4 great grandchildren and 1 great grandson, Trey, Sara Margaret, Maisie, Kendall and Benjamin Steed.
