Obituary

Nona Lee Christian Meers, 81, of Hiram, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on September 18, 2019. She was born June 30, 1938 to Loyd & Louise Patton Christian in Comer, Madison County, Georgia. Funeral arrangements by Bellamy Funeral Home, Hiram, Georgia. Visitation will be Friday, September 20, 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, September 21,11 a.m. at Riverside Church of God, 3470 Florence Road, Powder Springs GA. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens.

Throughout her life Nona held an unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior. She was active in the life of her church and inspired others with her thoughtfulness and faithfulness. She enjoyed working with many ministry efforts including favorites, caring for the church grounds and kitchen, and faithfully praying for others. In her community she shared generously of her time caring for the elderly and shut in. She was widely known as the "food and card lady" by those who received her warm meals and encouraging cards.

Additionally, Nona enjoyed her flowers. She was happiest when her hands were in the dirt. Her yard, with its beautiful flowers and bountiful garden stand as a testimony to her passion for nature.

Nona was devoted to her family. She most cherished the time when all of her family was together and they will always remember her serving each of their favorite dishes at all family gatherings —a tall order given her 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren! Her grandchildren are also blessed with memories of Grana attending their ballgames, dance recitals or special events at school and Camp Grana's each summer. She leaves her family a legacy of faith, love, dedication, strength and perseverance.

She was preceded by her parents and her husband, Bobby G. Meers. She is survived by her four children: Susan Morgan (Rory), Lynn Carden (Bob), Dwayne Collins (Kim), and Eddie Collins (Angie). Her treasured nine grandchildren: Matthew Collins, Joshua Collins, Daniel Morgan, Rebecca Thompson, Katie Silakowski, Genie Heaton, Lauren Collins, Garrett Collins and Beth Ellerbee and 11 great grandchildren: Haylee, Reed, Zachary, Stella, Nolan, Jacob, Charlotte, Mattie, Alex, Connor, and Addie as well as two very special cousins - Jane Watson and Patricia Carey.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Riverside Church of God kitchen renovation fund, or continuing Nona's ministry by sharing a flower or card with someone.
