Mr. Melvin A. Pirkle, age 86, of Hiram, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 25, 2020 surrounded by his family.

A native of Wedowee, Alabama, Mr. Pirkle was born on June 9, 1934 the son of the late George Dustin and Mora Mabelle Ogles Pirkle. Mr. Pirkle was an avid deer hunter and a devoted husband and father. He was married to the former Dianne Freeman on February 10, 1968 and attended the Nebo Baptist Church. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Pirkle was employed at Camp Gas Service Corporation for 25 years.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Mrs. Dianne F. Pirkle. One daughter; Darlene Stevens and her husband, Eddie. Three sons; Chris and Michelle Pirkle, Jeff Pirkle, Daniel and Michelle Pirkle and one step-son, Eddie Thompson. Eleven grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Pirkle will be conducted on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Bellamy Funeral Home with Rev. Roger McEntire officiating. Interment will follow in the Melrose Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12 noon until time of the service.
