Melanie Elizabeth Nowell, age 63, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 4, 2026. She was born on November 18, 1962 in Smyrna, Georgia to the late Carol Carl Ford and Betty Reeves Ford 

In addition to her cherished role as a devoted and loving mother of two, Melanie was a dedicated employee of the retailer TJ Maxx for over 44 years. Melanie enjoyed attending craft shows, antiquing, and not surprisingly, shopping.

Melanie wed Donnie Dwanyne Nowell, Sr. in 1997. They were married 12 years before his untimely passing in 2009 at the age of 50.

Survivors include her son, Donnie Nowell Jr., her daughter, Carla Nowell and her brothers, Carol "Joe" Ford Jr. and his wife Kelly and Tom Ford, her father-in-law, Donnie Nowell and sister-in-law, Dianne and Al Gay.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from Hiram First Baptist Church, located at 4211 Hiram-Sudie Road, Hiram, Georgia 30141 with Pastor Joe Holcomb officiating. The interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens at 3566 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway in Hiram, Georgia.
