Obituary

Mary Eugenia Lindsey of Blairsville, Georgia passed away at home on Tuesday, September 8, 2026  with her husband and children by her side. Genie was born on November 20, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was the eldest daughter of the late Jack and Bertie Andrews. Genie retired from the Gwinnett County School System as a special needs coordinator after 15 years of service. She had a love for those children and a passion to enhance their lives. Flowers brought  a smile to her face and soul.

Genie was a loving and caring mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and cousin. She was especially devoted to her loving husband, Darwin Ray Lindsey for 52 years. Genie was a member of House of Prayer in Blairsville, Georgia. She spent her life deeply in love with Christ and was a devout Christian. Some of her hobbies were gardening, The Red Hat Society, taking care of her family. Her favorite thing to pass her time was watching "Murder She Wrote".

Surviviors include her husband, Darwin Ray Lindsey, a daughter, Erin and Fredy Perez and son Drew, all of Blairsville, Georgia. Her most precious gifts, her granddaughter Raenie Jones and great-grandson, Hendrix Jones of Dacula, Georgia; sisters, Donna and Ed Reigner and Linda Barbry who was preceded in death by her husband, Bill.; many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from Bellamy Funeral Home, 3551 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway, Hiram, Georgia, 30141 with Pastor Jeff Olver and Pastor Sammy Clark officiating. The interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery at 2562 Villa Rica Hwy, Dallas, Georgia 30157. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until the service time. The service will be streamed on Youtube, Chuck Johnson Funeral Homes.
