Mrs. Mary Josephine Hamer, age 82, of Marietta passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

Mrs. Hamer was born on November 13, 1938 to the late John Thomas McCagh and the late Josephine Stiger McCagh. Mrs. Hamer was a retired teacher with the Cobb County School system. She loved to read and her life's work was teaching children to read. She valued education and was extremely proud of earning her master's degree. A true matriarch, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, teacher and friend. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hamer was preceded in death by her daughter, Marlene Stevens and her sister Margaret Anne Gunter.

Survivors include her Husband, John Hamer; Daughter, Linda Hamer Hunter; Sisters, Pat Gill and Nancy Chastain; Brothers, John Thomas McCagh Jr., Paul McCagh, and Frank McCagh; Four Grandchildren; Six Great-Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Hamer will be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
