Louise "Snooky"
Whittemore
Jan 18, 1950 — Jul 23, 2026
Lily Louise McClure Whittemore, age 76, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 24, 2026. She was surrounded by her family and those that loved her most.
Affectionately known as "Snooky" to everyone she met, Louise was born on January 18, 1950, in Murphy, North Carolina. She lived in Ohio during her childhood before moving to Marietta, Georgia as a teenager.
Snooky is survived by her mother Mary Nell McConnell Morrison of Marietta, sons Scott Whittemore (Leah) of Acworth and Heath Whittemore of Cartersville, grandchildren; Brooke Heinrichs (Garrett), Mary Ashlee Thomas (Jake), Matthew Whittemore, Haylee Whittemore, Hayden Whittemore, and Bethany Whittemore; sister Joyce Ball of Woodstock; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Harry Blaine Whittemore; her father Lloyd Thomas McClure; her stepfather Edward Morrison; and her sister Helen Ruth McClure Blake.
When her "boys" were younger, Snooky was active in the Powder Springs Youth
Organization. Her husband Harry was a Residential Home Builder for over 25 years.
Snooky worked alongside Harry but liked to make sure everyone knew that she was really the one in charge. Both Harry and Snooky enjoyed the building business because it allowed them to work with their sons and daughter-in-law. Snooky was a member of the Powder Springs Women's club; serving as treasurer for many years.
She was also a volunteer at Wellstar Cobb Hospital for 12 years. Snooky enjoyed her Bunco group and weekly dinners out with her beloved friends. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, shopping, her dogs, and any activity that involved her grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 1st at 2:00pm from the chapel of the Bellamy Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Walker officiating. Entombment to follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 1st from 12:00pm until the service hour.
Scott, Leah and Heath would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sterling Estates Memory Care in West Cobb. Their dedication, care, kindness and love were unmatched. They became a second family to us and took care of both Harry and Snooky with dignity and compassion during their final years.
