Lois Hightower Jones

Apr 8, 1933 — Oct 18, 2026

After a full and well-lived life, Lois Hightower Jones peacefully transitioned as the Lord called her home on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

Lois is preceded in death by her sons, Jerry Lamar Jones, Chris Anthony Jones, Daniel Webster Jones and her "baby girl" Margaret Jones.

Lois Hightower Jones, known as "Ms. Lois" by her community and friends was born in Hiram and has lived there for most of her life; she attended the old Rosenwald School through 7th grade, Matthews Elementary School for her 8th grade year and later received her GED.

She was married in 1949 to the late Early Lee Jones. Together they bore 8 sons and 4 daughters. Currently, Ms. Lois has a combination of more than "80" beautiful grand, great and great-great grandchildren.

During her youth, Ms. Lois worked various different jobs. A few of them were Woolworth Department Store, Cobb General Hospital, Coats & Clark Thread Mill, and Paulding County High School. At the young age of 69, she retired from her job of food preparation at Paulding County High School.

She was blessed to experience a very close-knit community in Hiram, GA where everyone she knew and had meaningful relationships with their neighbors. She and her husband often shared food, fruits, vegetables and simple old-fashioned love with the community. They would have cook-outs and various people from the community would feel free to drop by to visit and enjoy the BBQ and side dishes. Those times, will surely be missed by all.

Ms. Lois joined Smith Temple Church over 50 years ago and served faithfully in her local church and on the PHC National Usher Board. She also worked two weeks yearly at the Mattie Isom Bible Camp in Concord, GA. She attended church until her health declined.

Some of her favorite activities were: Family gatherings, planting and enjoying flowers in her many flower beds and around her home, sewing for her daughters in their younger days, making Pepper Jelly from fresh fruits and veggies, reading, cooking yummy dishes, baking pies and cakes, chatting on the phone with friends and having old and new friends drop by for a visit.

Fun Fact:

Ms. Lois could be observed enjoying and schrolling on her Ipad looking at pictures, viewing various church services and listening to stories and music.

She celebrated her 93rd birthday on April 8, 2026. Instead of a birthday party, she enjoyed a simple dinner with family and friends. She was so "THANKFUL" that GOD ALLOWED HER SUCH A LONG LIFE WITH THE SUPPORT OF HER LOVING FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Her loving memory will forever live on in the hearts of her sister, Barbara Jackson and brother, Dennis E. Hightower(Deborah).

Her beautiful legacy of love will live on through her beloved children, Charles, Cathy, Jennifer, Sherrie, Timothy, Maurice, Patrick, Carlos, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends. And especially her "favorite" grandson (if you know you know).

Lois has been given her wings. Although her passing may seem all too sudden, we know she is now at peace. Ms. Lois has gone on to meet the king, so lift up yours hearts with love and cheer, praising God in Jesus name!

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Bellamy Funeral Home with Bishop James Waters officiating. The interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens in Hiram, GA. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
