Obituary

Mrs. Linda "Mawmaw" Abernathy, age 83, of Powder Springs, GA passed away Monday, June 17, 2024.

Mrs. Abernathy was born on June 9, 1941 in Cartersville, GA to the late Mr. George Carl Templeton and the late Mrs. Mary Bessie "Betty" Darnell Templeton. Mrs. Abernathy retired as a medical assistant after working over 20 years for Marietta Pulmonary Medicine. Linda, who was affectionately known by her family as "Mawmaw", loved sewing, crochet, music, and singing. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her life. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charles "Charlie" M. Abernathy; daughter, Tammy Martinelli.

Survivors include children, Tina Wix (Mike) of Dallas, Tonia Chatwood (Michael) of Powder Springs, and Teffany Schall (Thomas) of Canton; step-sons, Scott Abernathy (Jill) of Powder Springs and Steve Abernathy (Laurie) of Powder Springs; brother, Scott Templeton (Joyce) of Cartersville; sister, Elaine Hamilton (Eddie) of Cartersville; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Bellamy Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Bellamy officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens at 3:00pm.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
