Sargent Lee Kemp Ramsey (80) of Shelbyville, TN passed away peacefully February 28th, 2022 surrounded by family. He was born to parents Eugene & Johnnie Ramsey on May 29, 1941 in Dade City, FL. After spending 2 years at Young Harris College, and spending time as a youth pastor, Lee joined the police force and served his community as an officer of the law for over 30 years. When he retired from the Cobb County Police Department in 2000, he was considered the first Y2K compliant Sargent in Cobb County.

Lee's passion and focus after retirement was genealogy. He published multiple revisions of the Ramsey Family lineage all the way up to his current grandsons Jared, Bowen, Corbin, and Drake. He also loved trains. He built multiple room size train tracks early on in life with his son as well as later in life with his grandsons.

Lee was extremely independent and traveled quite frequently across state lines to attend his grandson's activities. He always looked forward to being in their lives and cheering section. From his mile wide smile, you could tell that he was undoubtedly their number one fan and enjoyed everything they did from music to baseball.

Lee is survived by: Sister Phyliss Ramsey of College Park; brother Gene Ramsey of Richmond, VA; children Patrick, Johnnie Louise, and Lisa; grandchildren Jared, Bowen, Corbin, and Drake.

Memorial Services will be held at Bellamy Funeral Home in Hiram GA on Saturday March 12th with Pastor Steven Johnson officiating.

Visitation with the family will begin at 10, service at 11 followed by procession to Paulding Memorial Gardens with police Honor Guard and flag presentation and ceremony.

Flowers are accepted, however, donations may also be made to Cobb County Police Department in memory of Sargent Lee Ramsey. Donations may be mailed to Cobb County Police Department, Attention Major Little at 545 South Fairground St. SE Marietta, GA 30060.
