Obituary

Kathy Ann Reidy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister in law and
friend, passed away in Georgia on July 26, 2025, at the age of 73.
Born on February 22, 1952, Kathy grew up in Bolingbrook, Illinois, where she cherished summers
spent with her beloved grandparents, Aubrey and Mary Cates. These early memories remained
close to her heart throughout her life.
Kathy welcomed her first daughter, Renee, in 1970. While working at S.A. Healy, she met the love
of her life, Curt Reidy. The two were married on June 1, 1974, and together they built a beautiful
life. In 1976, they welcomed their youngest daughter, Amanda.
Kathy and Curt raised their family in Downers Grove, Illinois, where they spent many wonderful
years. Kathy was the heart of her home—always thinking of others, always reaching out. Whether
it was a handwritten note, a card in the mail for no reason other than love, or a quick call just to
check in, Kathy made people feel remembered and cared for. Her kindness and gentle spirit
touched everyone she met.
She was a devoted mother to Renee (Kevin) Costello and Amanda Ramey, a proud grandmother to
Zachary (Cori) Costello, Gregory Costello, Cody Ramey, and Ty Ramey, and a joyful
great-grandmother to Adalyn Costello. Beloved Sister in law to Gail Reidy and Tim (Paula) Reidy.
She also shared a bond with Amanda's partner, Eddie, and his son, Jake.
Kathy is also survived by her siblings Daniel (Annette) Knox and Pamela (Bill) Knox Dorsey, as
well as many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her warmth and wisdom. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Naomi Knox.
In recent years, Kathy made her home in Powder Springs, Georgia, where she built strong
friendships and was surrounded by a supportive and loving community. She enjoyed antiquing,
searching for small treasures, and had a special love for unique small designer
handbags—always with an eye for the perfect find.
Her family invites those who knew and loved her to honor her memory by supporting causes
close to her heart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy's name to:
Tunnel to Towers Foundation
Alzheimer's Foundation of America
Kathy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her endless compassion, her selfless
heart, and the way she made everyone feel like family.
