Obituary

John Byron Ray, beloved father, Papaw, and a man of many passions, passed away at the age of 77.

Mr. Ray was born on June 1, 1946 in Atlanta, GA to the late Mr. Billy Byron Ray and the late Mrs. Margaret McGlamry Ray. JB was a true outdoorsman at heart, finding solace in the beauty of nature through fishing and hunting. He delighted in creating fun doodles that captured the joy and whimsy of life. JB served his country with honor in the Vietnam War, a testament to his bravery and dedication. After his service, he dedicated over 30 years of his life to Delta Air Lines, where he worked diligently until his well-earned retirement. JB's greatest joy, however, came from his family. He was a loving father to Stephanie, Jason (Blakely), and Ansleigh (BJ), and a cherished Papaw to Lottie and Lawson. JB's kindness, warmth, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughters, Stephanie Ray and Ansleigh Richardson.

Survivors include his son, Jason Ray (Blakely) of Kennesaw; brother, Tony Ray (Marilyn) of Hiram; two grandchildren, Lottie Ray and Lawson Ray.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 3:00pm from the Chapel of Bellamy Funeral Home with Mr. Tim Miles officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 18th from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.

In his memory, his family asks that you take a moment to enjoy the beauty of nature, just as JB did, and cherish the time spent with loved ones. JB's legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Georgia Brain Tumor Walk & Race.
