Mr. Jerry "Jug" Rogers, age 66, of Lithia Springs passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
Mr. Rogers was born on September 21, 1957 in Austell, GA to the late Mr. Dillard Rogers and the late Mrs. Anna Mae Downs Rogers. Jerry, who was affectionately known as "Jug" by his family and friends, retired from Old Fashioned Foods after 42 years. He was a member of Peoples Baptist Church of Dallas, GA, where he was a staff musician. He was a member of Battle Hill Lodge #523 for over 36 years. He served as Worshipful Master in 1993, served as Treasurer from 2007-2023. He also served as District Deputy to the Grand Master for six years. He was a Charter Member of Charity Daylight Masonic Lodge #754. He is a member of York Rite Bodies of Atlanta and Scottish Rite Bodies of Atlanta. He became a member of Yaarab Shrine of Atlanta on June 17, 1989, where he served many positions including: a member and past president of Sweetwater Shrine Club, Yaarab Entertainers Band, Arab Guard, and Knights of Mecca. He was also the Assistant Editor of the Basharat Magazine. He was a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Jug also was a founding member of Bluegrass Inc., a member of The Band of Brothers (Masonic Bluegrass Group) and a former member of Bluegrass Band Ridge Runners.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Rogers; son, Andy Rogers (Denise); daughter, Audrey Mayotte (Michael); grandchildren, McKenzie Rogers, Sydney Rogers, Matthew Mayotte, Kylie "Pink" Mayotte; brother, Paul Rogers (Karen); two sisters, Betty Rogers and Shirley Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard and Anna Mae Rogers and his brother, Harold Rogers.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 from First Baptist Church Powder Springs at 1:00pm with Pastor Dennis Bellamy officiating. Mr. Rogers will lie-in-state at the church on Saturday from 12:00pm until 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 28th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and Friday, December 29th from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
Contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children .
