Jasper Eugene
Preston
Jan 28, 1988 — Jul 19, 2024
Mr. Jasper Eugene Preston, age 36 of Dallas, Georgia began his eternal rest on Friday, July 19, 2024 after he fought a hard fight to overcome cancer. Jasper was born on January 28, 1988 in Chicago, Illinois to his deceased parents Sharon Anderson and Roger Scruggs. He has been a resident of Georgia since the age of 5. Jasper was a graduate of Kennesaw State University where he received his BS degree in Integrative Studies, with certifications in Leadership Studies and Global Engagement. Jasper had a Love-Hate relation with politics. It wasn't uncommon to meet up with Jasper down at the State's gold dome or in the marble halls of Washington D.C., and there you could even see him in the Speaker's Office. He was a mentor to young activists on how to persuade and educate elected officials and an active member in the Georgia Republican Party. And he seriously prided himself as a member of the Paulding County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Jasper was a loving father and strong provider. Jasper showed great leadership and mentorship where ever he went and with whomever he came in contact with. During and after his High School years, Jasper volunteered with the Georgia Alliance to End Homelessness where he later secured employment. For the past eleven years Jasper has been a dedicated employee with the Georgia Alliance to End Homelessness where he served as Director of Program Services. Jasper was a pillar of his community with a compassionate heart for the homeless and families in crisis. Jasper will be missed. The community has truly suffered a great loss.
Before Jasper got sick, he had a vision of a program that he created at the organization and named it "Georgia Always Provides Program AKA GAP", which is a program that provides support to persons or families that are in an in-between state of homelessness and securing housing. A lot of times people relapse back into a state of homelessness after having secured housing because they don't have the support they need in the in between time of moving into their home and the GAP program provides that support. He worked diligently trying his hardest to get it piloted before getting sick, he was fortunate to see the program benefit three families before he became too sick to work. His family is asking that in lieu of flowers if you would make a donation to the Alliance's "Georgia Always Provides" (GAP) program. Please click here to donate. Please make your donations in Jasper's name and the funds will go towards helping the Alliance continue his legacy by preventing homelessness reaching those persons who for one reason or another do not meet criteria of the other helping service providers all across the state.
Jasper Preston is preceded in death by his father, Willie Preston, Jr., sister Victoria Anderson, sister Keona Anderson, sister Sharon Anderson, and his baby brother Richard Anderson. Surviving are his mother Katheryn Preston of Marietta, his wife Kimberly Preston and their children, Kalista Preston, Ella Preston, Richard Preston and Elijah Preston, his brother David Watkins, sister- in-law Dawn Watkins and their two children, Matthew and Mary-Margaret Watkins, his brother Roger Anderson Jr, and his sisters Michella Anderson, Katrina Anderson, Domique Davis, Monique Davis, Felicia Davis, Latina Davis, Sonia Parris, Makitha Curry, Jerice Anderson.
