Mr. Janez Zabnikar, age 73, of Hiram, GA passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Mr. Zabnikar was born on May 3, 1951 in Radomlje, Slovenia to the late Mr. Franc and Frančiška Zabnikar. Janez was born as the fourth of eight children in a farming family. When Janez finished elementary school in Radomlje, he got a job in a wood factory. When he was about eighteen years old, he had to join the mandatory military service, he served in the army in Bohinjska Bela (Bohinj) in Slovenia. In 1972, Janez moved to America and lived in New York. He has two brothers, Franc and Valentin and five sisters, Majada, Frančiška, Ani, Pavla, and Marjeta.

Survivors include his wife, Lavada Zabnikar of Hiram; son, Justin Zabnikar (Anita Ruth) of Carrollton; step-son, Mark Stanley (Tammy) of Mableton; granddaughter, Esabelle Zabnikar; grandson, Shawn Andrew Cloydd.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday July 20, 2024 from 11:00am until 2:00pm at Bowdon Church of God located at 1030 W College St, Bowdon, GA 30108 with Mr. Justin Zabnikar officiating. Please bring a dish that serves 5-10 people.
