Obituary

James (Jim) George Ellis, Jr, age 53 passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018, having valiantly battled a disease for 12 years.

A celebration of life will be held at Community Fellowship Ministries on March 10, at 3pm, under the direction of Pastors Andrew Murdock and Richard Wadsworth.

Interment will be held privately at Georgia National Cemetery.

Jim was born in Fort Hood, Texas in June of 1964. He graduated from Jacksonville High School and entered the United States Marine Corp in 1982.

Jim was deployed to the Middle East during the first Gulf War. His time in the Marine Corp was followed by service in the Georgia Air National Guard as an aircraft mechanic. Jim retired from the United States Army in 2008.

Jim was actively involved in VetLife. Born of personal experience as a veteran, Jim paved the way for VetLife to be established in and serve his community.

Beyond the military, Jim Ellis chose a life of service and benevolence. His actions and deeds reflected his love and concern for all people. Jim was active in Bethany Christian Church and Community Fellowship Church.

James was married to Lisa Marie Ellis; they were married for 18 devoted years. Jim and Lisa raised four beautiful children. Outside of his love and relationship with the Lord, Jim's life was devoted to loving and caring for Lisa and the kids.

Jim is survived by his lovely bride Lisa Ellis; spirited children Taylor, Michael, Rachael, and Chrissy; beautiful new granddaughter Layla Ellis; parents Jim and Mary Ellis; sister Patricia LaFond (David); sister Elizabeth Heishman (Mark); sister Jane Ellis; Brother Kristopher Ellis (Michele), brother John Ellis; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by by paternal grandparents Cecil Orren Ellis and Rose Theresa Ellis; maternal grandparents Ephriam Mills Keith and Laura Bell Keith.
