Jack Reasner Johnston, of Acworth, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2024.
Jack was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force and served four years during the Korean War and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1961. Jack had a long career with Colonial Pipeline Company as an internal auditor and was a die-hard University of Tennessee Volunteer fan.
Jack had 76 years in the Order of the Demolay, was a 70 year 32nd degree Mason, and served as Past Master of Kennesaw Masonic Lodge #33. He was a charter member and treasurer of Charity Daylight Masonic Lodge #754 member of the Royal Order of Scotland and was a member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite bodies. He was a 47-year member of Yaraab Shrine Center, having served under several Potentates as an Aide, Personal Aide, Sunshine Chairman, Quartermaster, Road Runner, and Reports and Receipts Chairman for the Yaarab Shrine Circus. He was Past President of the Yaarab Shrine Golf Association, Past President of the Yaarab Shrine Arab Guard Unit, Past Director of the Royal Order of Jesters, Atlanta Court #91, and Past Camaxtli of the Order of Quetzalcoatl Aztec Atlanta #1997. Jack worked in the Board of Elections office in Paulding County for over 20 years. He was a member of Due West Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, John; mother, Ethel; sister, Norma Williams; first wife and mother of his children, Mary Anne Pipkin Johnston. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Jane Dudley Johnston; son, David Johnston (JoNan); daughter, Lori Dameron (Bob); stepson, Ted Dudley (Kelsey); grandchildren, Ashley Stanbridge (Jared), Josh Dameron (Rachel), Jon Dameron (Megan), Andrew Dameron (Analisa), Brittany Johnston King (Kevin), MaryElizabeth Johnston; step-grandson, Colin Dudley; great-grandchildren, Landon and Braydon Stanbridge, Elijah and Emma Dameron, and Hannah and Caleb Dameron; nieces, Janet Cotton, Joyce Carlson (Bill); nephew, Ralph Williams (Jeanine); sister-in-law, Carolyn Deal; niece, Kelly Deal; nephew, Lee Deal; brother-in-law, The Rev. Dr. James (Jim) Auchmuty; several other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00am from the Chapel of Bellamy Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Bellamy, Dr. James A. Auchmuty Jr., and Dr. David Campbell officiating with Masonic rites and US Air Force presentation. Interment will follow on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 12:00pm CST at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville, TN with Bob Dameron officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 10:00am until 11:00am.
Jack has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Masonic Children's Home, 1417 Nottingham Dr. Macon, GA 31211 or Shriner's Childrens Hospital, 400 E. Ponce de Leon Ave Atlanta, GA 30308.
