Debra "Debbi" Craton, age 55, passed away in her family home September 9, 2018. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 4:00pm at Corner Baptist Church with Brother Jacob Beaty officiating. She will lie Instate from 3-4:00pm at the church. Interment will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
Debbi was the daughter of William Craton and Maggie Hicks Craton. She graduated from McEachern High School before earning a music degree at Middle Tennessee State University. A piano teacher and musician, Debbi lived a life in service of others. She was a caregiver for her parents, a nurturer for her church family, a faithful Christian, a loving aunt, and a devoted animal lover.
As a musician, Debbi lifted up others in worship. She celebrated their milestones and gave solace to their losses. She had a confident singing voice with just enough twang to show her roots. Debbi was also a talented writer who chronicled family history; behind her reserve were a sharp wit and vibrant imagination.
Debbi is survived by her brothers Bobby Craton and Gary Craton and sister-in-law Lynne Craton, nieces Cathy Murphy an Lillie Craton and their spouses, and great nephews TJ and Will Murphy. She is also survived by friends and neighbors she loved, especially the family of Corner Baptist Church.
