Mr. David Stuart Doom, age 78, of Hiram, GA passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

Mr. Doom was born on April 25, 1946 in Jacksonville, Alabama to the late Mr. James Lanier Doom and the late Mrs. Emma Moffet McMullen Doom. David spent most of his childhood in Decatur, Georgia and graduated from Southern Poly Tech.  He worked for Southern Company Services for about 25 years before working for other engineering firms in Birmingham and the Atlanta area.  David met his wife, Libby in Birmingham, Alabama and they were married just shy of 51 years.  David was a quiet, selfless servant who loved his family, and our Heavenly Father, and Jesus was his Savior.  He was known for his easy, calming presence, steadfast faith, and love for others.  David was the father of the Dad Joke and will always be remembered for his good-natured sense of humor (even if those around him may have sometimes groaned more than laughed).  He was a good son, loving husband, a kind father, and the best Granddad a kid could know.

David loved working in the yard, telling stories and jokes, Braves baseball, and Alabama football.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Doom McAleer.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Doom of Hiram, Ga.; daughter, Charlotte Pelz (Aaron) of Roswell, GA; sister, Martha Doom Bentley of Taylors, S.C.; brother, Dr. Bill Doom (Jeanne) of Thomasville, N.C.; grandchildren, Joseph Pelz and Ali Pelz; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 14, 2024, at 2:00pm from West Metro Church of Christ with Ricky Gray, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trujillo Christian School, donations may be sent to P.O. Box 100 Hiram, GA 30141.
