Mrs. Barbara V. Hames, age 84, of Powder Springs, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2020 surrounded by her family.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Hames was born on July 23, 1936 the daughter of the late Charles Ralph Bonner and Lucy Hitchcock Bonner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold M. Hames and was a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She was known as a fun loving lady, who welcomed everyone into her home, she enjoyed ball room dancing and always supported her children in their school events. Mrs. Hames also enjoyed flowers and gardening and absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hames volunteered for the Georgia Railroad Steam Engine in Atlanta and took Georgia fans to games and on overnight trips.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law; Danny & Carol Hames. Three daughters and sons-in-law; Deborah Hames, Becky & James Chastain, and Jan & Mark Bowen. One brother, Gene Bonner. Three grandchildren; Brittany Caldwell, Joshua Chastain, and Jennifer Bowen. Seven great grandchildren; Hunter Story, River Story, Hadley Story, Sanders Chastain, Caroline Chastain, Nolan Caldwell and Nate Caldwell.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hames will be conducted on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the Bellamy Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Wilkens officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11am until 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Poplar Springs Baptist Church or flowers will be appreciated.

The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers and they include; Joshua Chastain, Joshua Story, Curtis Caldwell, Mark Bowen, James Chastain and Darryl Evans.
