Mr. Andrew Stennette (Sonny) Murphy died peacefully in Austell, GA on September 12th at the age of 70.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his sons Timothy S. and Jenny Murphy of Rockmart, Daniel L. and Brooke Murphy of Rockmart. His sister Linda and Frank Widincamp of Brunswick, GA and his grandchildren Mary Elizabeth, Macyn Grace, Jackson Stennette, Lacey Mae, Piper Ann, Levi Stennette, and one on the way. Mr. Murphy is preceded on death by his parents, Mr and Mrs Lavern S. and Ota Mae Murphy of Powder Springs, GA, siblings Elizabeth "Betty" Cosper of Tallapoosa, GA, Howell Murphy of Lithia Springs, GA, and Helen Lee of Mableton, GA.
Mr. Murphy was born in August 23, 1945 in Atlanta, GA. He served as a Lance Corporal USMC from 1966-1968. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson Law School in Atlanta. He worked as a locomotive engineer for CSX(formerly L&N,Seaboard) Railroad from 1963-2004. He was an accomplished carpenter.
The services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Kansas Baptist Church, Waco, GA with Rev. Jeremy Lundy officiating. Interment will follow at Kansas Church Cemetery. Bellamy Funeral Home Hiram in charge of arrangements.
